Weediquette #5: The Emerald Triangle

weediquette hero Weediquette #5: The Emerald Triangle

The Emerald Triangle is the fifth episode of the “Weediquette” series by VICE, hosted by Krishna Andavolu. This episode identifies the differences between the newfound industrialization of cannabis production, versus the old style farming in the hills of Northern California. Interviewing both sides of the market, Krishna does a great job in showing the different mindsets of the cannabis producers. This episode will definitely make you want to visit California’s legendary growing regions.

Old School Growing

The episode highlights the key differences between small scale and craft growing regions versus the industrialized version of growing that could potentially consume the entire market. The large greenhouse operations seem to have a much less appealing vibe compared to the wonderful farmers in northern California.

The reality of nationwide legalization is that it could bring a disastrous impact on the production of cannabis at a smaller, more intimate level.

Even though small-scale farmers might be forced out of business because of economies of scale, the home growing market could accelerate beyond anyone’s expectations. Depending on the legality of it, home growing could be as common as cultivating your own tomatoes.

What direction do you think the small farm production will go in the next 5 years? Can you see home growing becoming the next big area for innovation in the cannabis space? Join the discussion onsocial media or in the comments below.
