Are you looking for a new way to spark your buds? If so, there is a much more badass alternative to butane and cheap lighters. As it turns out, people are now smoking weed with lasers, and it’s more popular than you may think. Not only can you unleash your inner Jedi while you get your toke on, but you also don’t have to worry about radiation poisoning. Therefore, if you want to make the experience of getting high more magical than it already is, then consider exploring the world of smoking cannabis with lasers.
Pass me the laser, bro
A brand new year is here, and as with any new year, people are looking to switch things up a bit. And that includes embracing a new way to spark cannabis.
As it turns out, smoking weed using a laser is a thing. That’s right – people are ditching the butane and lighters for high-powered lasers.
Youtuber Oregon Marijuana (Jake), shared his experience of using a laser to ignite his buds. In fact, he’s not the only one who has done so.
Although it’s not clear as to who is responsible for starting this trend, smoking weed with lasers has apparently been a thing since around 2008. Moreover, these highly powerful lasers have been on the market since the turn of the millennium.
As can be seen in the video above, Jake is using a 300w model that retails at around $160. This particular laser also comes with red-tinted glasses for safety, which Jake is wearing. After taking a massive bong rip, Jake says the taste is super clean.
Is it safe to smoke weed with lasers?
According to Jake, using a laser to smoke weed provided a cleaner flavor, but are lasers safe to use for getting high? Justin Coffman, who is in the video above, wonders the same thing.
Although radiation poisoning may be a concern, you apparently cannot get it when smoking cannabis with a laser. The term “laser” is an acronym for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.”
However, this radiation pertains to the release of a photon, or electromagnetic radiation from the electron shell of an atom.
In other words, you’re fine. Unlike microwaves, radio waves, and ionizing x-rays, which pose the risk of developing cancer, using a laser to ignite your ganja is safe in comparison. On the other hand, not wearing protective eye gear may not be such a good idea.
In regards to the legality of using lasers, it is illegal for distributors to sell ones that are over five milliwatts as a consumer grade pointer. Moreover, it is illegal to point a laser towards a police officer and aircraft. However, it is not illegal to own one to get high.
You can read more about the rules and regulations here.
Cannabis enthusiasts are always looking for unique ways to get high and light their buds. Therefore, it only makes sense that people are now embracing lasers. What a time to be alive!
