These Incredible TVs Of The Future Are As Thin As Your Credit Card

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas had some amazing displays of technological advances. One of the most memorable was LG’s newest TV technology, dubbed as the “Wallpaper OLED TV.” At just one-tenth of an inch, the actual screen portion of the TV is as thin as a credit card. That gives the appearance that your 65″ display is just painted on the wall.

LG’s Wallpaper OLED TV: The cost of innovation

You might be thinking, how can they fit all the hardware and cable inputs in a TV that thin? Well, the included sound system is where all the brains of the TV are located.

The sound bar has Dolby Atmos capabilities which will offer world-class audio. Unfortunately, with innovative technology like this, hearing about the price tag can be quite a dramatic experience.

The Wallpaper OLED will come in 65-inch and 77-inch models. Being so incredibly thin, LG still manages to make sure the quality is top notch. It’s a full 4K HDR display with no backlight and the latest in high-end picture quality.

The wallpaper-like screen can attach directly to a wall using magnetic brackets, without needing traditional and clunky wall mounts.

With LG being one of the first TV manufacturers to put forward a technology this innovative, the price they want is definitely reflective of that. LG hasn’t officially released the TV’s pricing scheme to the public, but many industry insiders say the TV will cost $8,000.

We must still be aware that with all great innovations in technology, the initial launch price is often the highest it will ever be. Remember how much money flat screen TV’s cost a decade ago? And now you can buy them for 10% of what they were going for back when the technology was in its infancy.

So all we need is patience, as this amazing technology will be in our living rooms in the not too distant future.
