The Nokia 3310, regarded as one of the most successful and durable cell phones in history, is to be relaunched at the Mobile World Congress later this month.
What’s the deal?
The Nokia 3310 was originally released in 2000 and partially heralded the dawn of the age of cell phones.
The durable and tough exterior was buffeted by the phone’s inclusion of four games, including Snake, which became popular in its own right. (The game is popular enough to now be available on iPhone, Android, and Windows.)
The fact that the phone also featured an extended battery life, a clock, a calculator, and the capability to store up to 10 reminders made it a hit with customers worldwide.
Nokia was ultimately sold to Microsoft after failing to successfully adapt to the increased usage of smartphones among cell phone customers.
HMD Global, a Finnish company, bought the rights to a number of different Nokia names after Nokia foundered. These include the Nokia 3, 5, and 6, all of which will be unveiled at the end of this month.
The phone will reportedly be sold for €59, available for purchase at the Mobile World Congress, a trade conference for those in the mobile industry that is set to take place in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2.
