5 Epic New Movies That Will Be Even Better When You’re High

Each year, the studios release more and more movies, some of which can transport us to another world – or, like, a galaxy far, far away– but with so many on offer, it can be hard to choose what to go and see. Here are five movies, in order of release, which could be the standout new movies for 2017.

1. The LEGO Batman Movie

Everyone knows that LEGO is lots of fun, but who would’ve thought that The LEGO Movie would be just as much fun? One of the standout characters of The LEGO Movie was Gotham’s Caped Crusader, Batman AKA Bruce Wayne, who returns in his own adventure.

There will be darkness, no parents, continued darkness and, well, more darkness. But there is no doubt it will have lots of the aforementioned fun.

2. Kong: Skull Island

Given its reputation for seeing blondes kidnapped and almost every visitor being slaughtered, heading to Skull Island might not seem like the smartest idea, but it’s a place that most still want to go and explore.

With a Kong that is bigger than previous incarnations, as well as many nods to Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic Apocalypse Now, this is a movie to watch while blazed. The first boat trip to Skull Island leaves in March.

3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

While Chris Pratt has openly said that his character on Parks and Rec smoked a lot of weed, his laid-back portrayal of Star-Lord takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s probably best to do so for him.

The follow-up to the smash hit that was Guardians of the Galaxy hits cinemas in May – as does the soundtrack that comes should contain as many classics as the first – and it looks like it might top the original in terms of fun, excitement and, of course, laughs. Along with a large tub of popcorn, be sure to have some gummy bears, too.

4. Baywatch

As a satirical take on everyone’s favorite lifesaving drama, it’s hard to say if this Baywatch will take the place of the original in your hearts. But, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Zac Efron donning the red trunks, it is safe to say that there will be plenty of laughs.

Along with the obligatory slow-motion shots of lifeguards running to save someone and probably a boat chase, there will be cameos from both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, too.

5. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

With December seeing the next installment of the Star Wars saga, with the Han Solo standalone film to follow in May 2018, the future is bright for the cinema-going audience. Along with the final appearance of our favorite Princess (and General), old favorites such as Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker will return to the silver screen.

As the second part of the [third] trilogy, it isn’t guaranteed that we will discover who Rey’s parents are or who Finn really is, but it is almost guaranteed that Luke will ignite the green – his green lightsaber, that is.
