Officer Ball was working off-duty one night at an Arlington movie theater when someone tipped him that a teenager was smoking pot outside. When he went out, he found a teenage boy finishing a joint and discarding it. Ball smelled marijuana as he approached, reports WFAA.
Push-ups instead of jail

The teen was respectful and realized he’d made a mistake, according to Cook. Officer Ball could have arrested him, but he decided to handle it a bit differently. He reportedly said to the teen,
You give me 200 push-ups, I won’t put you in jail. He could very well have arrested this teen, but instead he tried to do something better.
The young man reportedly told Officer Ball he’d “learned his lesson.” Ball’s unusual move was widely praised on social media.
Arlington police said they didn’t know the name of the teenager, but that he was about 17 or 18 years old. Officer Ball found the teen’s mother inside the theater, where she gave him a hug and thanked him, according to police.
She gave a stern warning to her son and even told the officer, ‘I would have made him do more push-ups.’ – Lt. Cook
After Raiza Paradez posted the video to Facebook, it was shared hundreds of times, with people praising the officer’s actions.
