Between now and the end of the fall, you’ll be able to experience all kinds of scares in the cinema, with the release of some established franchises that are being reimagined for 2017 and all-new horror flicks. As Halloween approaches, the days start to get shorter, which is the perfect time to discover some new horror movies that are about to be released.
1. Polaroid
Release date: August 25
Taking its cues from icons of the genre, like Ring, this horror uses a simple trope to give serious scares to the audience.
2. Jackals
Release date: September 1
In what looks to be The Strangers, with a bit of the Manson Family thrown in, Jackals looks set to scare you for a long time. Sometimes, it’s just not a good idea to take refuge in a secluded lodge.
3. It
Release date: September 8
There is no doubt that the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s classic will result in a spate of clown sightings in towns across America – and you’ll see Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of Pennywise the Dancing Clown for that.
4. Flatliners
Release date: September 29
Even though it is said to be a remake, the Flatliners for 2017 is just as much a sequel to the original starring Kiefer Sutherland (who reprises his role from the 1990 film), which might just be the defibrillator needed to bring this franchise back to life.
5. Jigsaw
Release date: October 27
This Halloween, the eighth installment of the long-running Saw franchise returns to screens with an all-new look, story, and cast – not to mention, lots of new scares, too.
